GB/T 8165-2025 Stainless steel clad plate, sheet and strip
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification and designation, manufacturing process, ordering content, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificates of stainless steel clad plate, sheet and strip [hereinafter referred to as steel clad plate (strip)] produced by explosion compounding method, exploded rolling method and rolled compounding method.
This document is applicable to single-sided and double-sided steel clad plate (strip), with stainless steel as cladding metal, carbon steel, low alloy steel or alloy steel as base metal, used to manufacture various pressure vessels, storage tanks and structural parts.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
stainless steel clad plate, sheet and strip
cladding metal, with carbon steel, low alloy steel or alloy steel as the base metal (3.3), coated with stainless steel of a certain thickness on one or two sides continuously as a whole by explosion or other methods
3.2
cladding metal
stainless steel in steel clad plate contacting with working medium and atmosphere
Note: it is commonly referred to as cladding.
3.3
base metal
carbon steel, low alloy steel or alloy steel in steel clad plate which mainly bears structural strength
Note: it is commonly referred to as base.
3.4
explosion compounding method
method for realizing welding and compounding between cladding metal (3.2) and base metal (3.3) during explosion
3.5
rolled compounding method
method for realizing metallurgical bonding between cladding metal (3.2) and base metal (3.3) during rolling
3.6
exploded rolling method
method for realizing metallurgical bonding between cladding metal (3.2) and base metal (3.3) during rolling
3.7
compound contact interface
interface between steel clad plate (3.2) and base metal (3.3)
3.8
union rate
percentage of metallurgical welded area between steel clad plate (3.2) and base metal (3.3) to the total interface area
3.9
patched welding
operation in which the cladding metal of clad plate (3.2) can keep its original performance through various treatments after unbounded stainless steel is removed according to certain requirements and clad plate (3.2) is undergone surfacing on the cladding metal (3.2)
