Standard white plates for colorimetric and photometric measurements
1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, requirements, instruments and measurement, certificate and marking, as well as packaging, transport and storage for standard white plates used for colorimetric and photometric measurements.
This document is applicable to standard white plates used for colorimetric and photometric measurements.
2 Normative References
The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are indispensable for its application. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 5698 and the following apply.
3.1
perfect reflecting diffuser; PRD
ideal uniform diffuser with perfect reflectance
3.2
spectral reflectance
ρ(λ)
measure characterizing the energy of light reflected by an object, expressed as the ratio of the radiant flux or luminous flux of wavelength λ reflected by the object surface to the radiant flux or luminous flux of wavelength λ incident on the object surface
3.3
ceramic standard white plate
ceramic white plate used for photometric and colorimetric measurements, serving as the national white standard reference material
3.4
powder standard white plate
powder white plate used for photometric and colorimetric measurements, serving as the national white standard reference material
4 Classification
4.1 According to the material of manufacture, they are classified into two types: ceramic standard white plates and powder standard white plates.
a) Ceramic standard white plates are divided into:
4.2 According to shape, they are divided into two types:
a) Circular standard white plates: diameter should be 25 mm to 100 mm, thickness should be 5 mm to 10 mm;
b) Square standard white plates: side length should be 45 mm to 100 mm, thickness should be 5 mm to 10 mm.
5 Requirements
5.1 General
Colorimetric and photometric measurements are based on the perfect reflecting diffuser as the standard. Measurements are generally carried out by comparing the sample with the standard white plate. A standard white plate with known spectral reflectance and tristimulus values shall be used for measurement.
5.2 Appearance
5.2.1 The surface shall be flat, free from cracks, stains and scratches that may affect service performance.
5.2.2 For pressed powder standard white plates, no powder debris shall fall off when held vertically or inverted.
