本标准规定了矩形熔断体的额定值、标志、尺寸和结构、电压降、时间/电流特性、分断能力、耐久性试验、最大持续功耗、熔断体温度、耐异常热和耐燃试验等技术要求。
本标准适用于保护通常在户内使用的电气装置、电子设备和其中元件的、且用于印制电路的矩形熔断体。
本标准不适用于特殊条件下（例如，腐蚀或易爆环境）使用的电气装置的矩形熔断体。
