1 This Standard specifies property test method for bitumen and bituminous mixtures, including bitumen selection, test method, test data rearrangement, data analysis and test precision requirement for bitumen and bituminous mixtures. 2 This Standard is applicable to phases of design, construction, curing, quality inspection and such works acceptance as highway bituminous pavement. 3 Technical requirements for bituminous materials and bituminous mixtures shall comply with current relevant technical codes. 4 Equipments used in this Standard shall be detected by corresponding determination department or detection mechanism, only after being confirmed to be eligible; it shall be corrected in service. Metering graduation interval should not be over a year unless otherwise being specified. Where the equipments do not meet the requirements, the test results shall not be used as the criteria. Detection equipment stresses on quality, temperature, length, load, speed, time, and standard penetration needle, softening point iron shot, screen, press, sensors and a variety of admeasuring apparatus for die dimensions. The standard screens adopted by this Standard are square mesh screen. 5 Units of measurement shall be national legal ones. If the imported or the original equipments are not in line with legal units for measurement in China, they shall be reduced to legal units of measurement while being used. 6 Calculation and representation for test results shall comply with the precisions for effective figures. Precision or permissible difference for test method is represented by standard deviation or error of the repetitive test and reproducibility testing results. The accuracy or error of determined results shall comply with requirement for the precision or permissible difference specified in this Standard. 7 The testing staffs shall be provided with elementary knowledge for bituminous material and they shall abide by specifications for safe operation and environmental protection. 8 Test items not specified in this Standard may be referred to relevant domestic and foreign standard test methods, but it shall be explained clearly in the test report. 9 When admeasuring apparatus and equipments differs from those specified in this Standard, they must be detected and confirmed to be eligible. Their test engineering index, test precision and fundamental test condition shall comply with this Standard.
