1 Scope This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage of medium duty gear oils for vehicles. This standard is applicable to the lubrications of manual transmission box operated at low-speed & high-torque and high-speed & low-torque, spiral bevel gear, especially hypoid gear for all kinds of vehicles, as well as the gear oils used for rear axle main reducer, whose application quality level (GL-4) is specified. 2 Normative References The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard.
