QC/T 258-2013 Vehicle wheels - Nut seat strength tests 1 Scope This standard specifies the test methods and performance requirements for the strength of the nut seat of vehicle wheels. This standard is applicable to vehicle wheels with protruding nut seats. 2 Test procedures 2.1 General The principle of this test is to apply an axial load to the nut seat and determine the permanent deformation of the nut seat. In addition, a test to measure the yield strength is also specified. 2.2 Wheels for test Use only new wheels that have undergone the complete manufacturing process (including all coating processes) and have not been used. 2.3 Test equipment The test equipment shall have a rigid flat surface which is dimensionally equal to the vehicle hub (see Figure 1) and is capable of supporting the complete wheel mounting area. The equipment shall provide a hardened (HRC 45 min) punch or load applicator with a shape designed to match the contour of the nut seat, with a contact area not less than the nut seat contact area specified for the wheel. The punch or load applicator shall provide a measured, non-rotational axial force of F perpendicular to the plane of the supporting surface. F shall depend on the type of fastener used to fix the wheel on the hub. Only one nut seat of a wheel shall be loaded at a time. In addition to the loading mechanism, devices to measure nut seat deformation or punch travel shall be required.
