This standard specifies classification method, design requirements, technical characteristic, test methods and inspection rules of radioactive aerosol contamination meters and monitors. This standard is applicable to radioactive collosol contamination meters and monitors with filter sampling device for application in radioactive workplace. Such kind of instruments shall have the following functions: a. Measuring the radioactive concentration if aerosol and its variation with time, or the cumulated activity of aerosol within a long time (like 24h). b. Making alarm signal when the radioactive concentration or cumulated activity of aerosol exceeds the preset value. This standard is not applicable to radioactive aerosol contamination meters and monitors for selective monitoring (like monitoring plutonium aerosol) as well as for sampling through electrostatic precipitation, impacting, centripetal separation and centrifuge method. If such meters and monitors are used in land vehicles, air vehicles or vessels, it need add other requirements which may be agreed upon by user and manufacturer.
