GB 4806.10-2025 National food safety standard - Painting and coating for food contact materials and products +English, Anglais, Englisch, Inglés, えいご 1 Scope This standard is applicable to painting and coating for food contact materials and products. 2 Terms and definitions 2.1 painting and coating for food contact materials and products painting intended to be painted on food contact materials and products that is in direct contact with food or in indirect contact with food but whose components may be transferred to food, and the coating formed 3 Basic requirements 3.1 Painting and coating for food contact materials and products shall meet the requirements of GB 4806.1. 3.2 Manufacturers producing painting for food contact materials and products shall control the safety risks of painting products through formula design, raw material selection, production process control, and product information transmission. 3.3 Enterprises using painting for food contact materials and products shall control the safety risks from painting through packaging design for seams and edges, adding effective blocked layers, controlling the curing process, and transmitting product information; the use and residual amount of painting shall be minimized as much as possible while achieving the intended results. 4 Technical requirements 4.1 Raw material requirements 4.1.1 The use of basic raw materials in painting and coating for food contact materials and products shall meet the requirements of Annex A and relevant announcements. 4.1.2 The use of additives in painting and coating for food contact materials and products shall meet the requirements of GB 9685 and relevant announcements. 4.2 Sensory requirements for coating The sensory requirements for coating in direct contact with food shall meet those specified in Table 1. Table 1 Sensory requirements Item Requirements Sense Smooth surface, uniform color and no pores; after soaking, there shall be no cracking, blistering or falling off Soaking solution The soaking solution obtained from migration test shall not exhibit sensory defects such as abnormal coloration, turbidity, precipitation and abnormal odor 4.3 Physical and chemical indexes 4.3.1 General physical and chemical indexes The general physical and chemical indexes of coating shall meet those specified in Table 2. Table 2 General physical and chemical indexes Item Index Inspection method Overall migrationa/(mg/dm2)b ≤ 10 GB 31604.8 Consumption of potassium permanganatea /(mg/kg) Water (60°C, 2h or boiled for 0.5h and then placed at room temperature for 24h)c ≤ 10 GB 31604.2 Heavy metals (by Pb)a/(mg/kg) 4% acetic acid (volume fraction) (60°C, 2h or boiled for 0.5h and then placed at room temperature for 24h)c ≤ 1 GB 31604.9 Total migration of aromatic primary aminesd/(mg/kg) Not detectable (limit of detection = 0.01mg/kg) GB 31604.52 a Applicable only to coating in direct contact with food. For coating in indirect contact with food, those specified in the relevant national food safety standards for layers in direct contact with food shall apply. b For coating for food contact materials and products intended for infants and young children, the result shall be converted into mg/kg according to the area-volume ratio in actual use, and the limit shall be not greater than 60mg/kg. c The test conditions for coatings of cooking utensils are "boiled for 0.5h and then placed at room temperature for 24h", and the test conditions for other coatings are "60℃, 2h". d Applicable only to coatings containing aromatic isocyanates, azo colorants and other substances that may produce aromatic primary amines. The migration of primary aromatic amines shall be tested on the final products of food contact materials and products after the painting curing reactions have been completed. Primary aromatic amines with migration limits specified in Annex A, GB 9685 and relevant announcements shall be subject to relevant provisions. 4.3.2 Other physical and chemical indexes 4.3.2.1 Coatings for food contact materials and products shall comply with the physical and chemical indexes such as specific migration limit (SML), total specific migration limit [SML(T)] and maximum permitted quantity (QM) of basic raw materials in Annex A and relevant announcements. 4.3.2.2 Coatings for food contact materials and products shall comply with GB 9685 and relevant announcements on physical and chemical indexes such as SML, SML(T) and QM of additives. 5 Others 5.1 Migration test 5.1.1 The migration test shall be carried out in accordance with those specified in GB 31604.1 and GB 5009.156, unless otherwise stated in this standard. 5.1.2 When 4% (volume fraction) acetic acid is used for total migration test on the surface coating of metal cans (including can body, can lid and pull ring), if the sample under test changes that will not occur under normal service conditions (such as coating peeling off, bubbling, and metal corrosion), or precipitation, turbidity and other changes occur in the soaking solution, an inert substrate (such as stainless steel and glass) shall be selected and coated with corresponding paint to prepare a representative specimen for total migration test again. If the foregoing changes still occur or it is not feasible to prepare a representative specimen even if an inert substrate is used, 10% (volume fraction) ethanol may be used instead of 4% (volume fraction) acetic acid. 5.2 Labels The labels shall meet the requirements of GB 4806.1. Annex A Allowable basic raw materials in painting and coating for food contact materials and products and their application requirements A.1 Table A.1 specifies the list of allowable basic raw materials in painting and coating for food contact materials and products and their application requirements. The base raw materials listed in Table A.1 are based on their CAS No., and for those without CAS No., their names are used as references.
