GB/T 1692-2008 Vulcanized rubber - Determination of the insulation resistivity Warning: Users of this standard shall have practical work experience in standardized laboratories. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems. It is the responsibility of the user to establish appropriate safety and health measures and to ensure compliance with any national regulatory provisions. 1 Scope This standard specifies the method for determining the insulation resistivity of vulcanized rubber. This standard is applicable to the determination of insulating resistivity of vulcanized rubber with the resistance greater than 108 Ω. 2 Normative references The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated reference, the latest edition is applicable to this standard. GB/T 2941 Rubber - General procedures for preparing and conditioning test pieces for physical test methods (GB/T 2941-2006, ISO 23529:2004, IDT) 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this standard, the following term and definition apply: 3.1 insulation resistance ratio of the DC voltage on a specimen to the total current flowing through the specimen, which includes two parts: volume resistance and surface resistance 3.2 volume resistance ratio of the DC voltage on the specimen to the current flowing through the volume of the specimen, which is expressed by Rv 3.3 volume resistivity resistance value of the dielectric per unit volume (cubic centimeter) of the specimen, which is expressed by ρV 3.4 surface resistance ratio of the DC voltage on the surface of the specimen to the current flowing across the surface of the specimen, which is expressed by Rs 3.5 surface resistivity if a square of any size is taken on the surface of the specimen, and the current passes through the opposite sides of the square, the resistance value of the square is the surface resistivity, which is expressed by ρs 4 Test principle The volume resistivity or surface resistivity of a specimen is calculated by applying a DC voltage to the specimen and measuring the leakage current perpendicular to the specimen or along the surface of the specimen.
