This standard is applicable to the single-layer city bus, coach bus (seat bus) and sightseeing bus whose length is greater than 7m. 2 Definitions This standard adopts the following definitions. 2.1 Superstructure The structure division which provides with car body strength where overturn accident occurs. 2.2 Passenger compartment The space supplied for passengers, excluding the occupied space of fixed facilities such as the bar, kitchen, or rest room. 2.3 Residual space The reserved space in passenger compartment when bus superstructure test is done according to test methods specified in this standard and after the test. 3 Determination of Residual Space 3.1 Point R is the datum point determining residual space. This point is 500 mm far away from the floor under feet of passengers and is 300 mm far away from car body inwall; this point is located in the front of outside seat back and is 100mm far away from X axis direction of the center line; see Figure 1. 3.2 The vertical cross section (namely shaded area) shown in Figure 1 (a) is the trapezium whose lower edge is through R point; thereof end point of lower edge is 150 mm far away from Point R outside; the height is 750 mm; the end point of top edge is inside Point R and is 100mm far away from Y axis direction of Point R. 3.3 Residual space refers to the space related to the movement of the vertical cross section according to Section 3.2 along the connecting line of Point R in the passenger compartment. Point R tconnecting line is successively from the Point R in last row of seats, the Point Rs in each row of seats to the Point R in the most front row of seats; see Figure 1 (b).
