GB/T 1844《塑料 符号和缩略语》分为四个部分，本部分为GB/T 1844的第2部分，等同采用ISO 1043.2：2000《塑料—符号和缩略语—第2部分：填充和增强材料》。
GB/T 1844的本部分规定了有关填充及增强材料术语的统一符号，其中仅包括已经得到普遍使用的符号。可有效的防止同一个填充及增强材料有两个或两个以上的符号出现，同时防止一个符号有不同的解释。
本标准代替GB/T 1844.2-1995《塑料及树脂缩写代号 第2部分：填充及增强材料》，与GB/T 1844.2-1995相比主要差异如下：
——标准名称由“塑料及其树脂缩写代号 第二部分：填充及增强材料”改为“塑料 符号和缩略语 第2部分：填充及增强材料”；
——增加了三水合氧化铝的缩写代号；
——更改了缩写代号N的代表物质；
——修改了增强材料形状代号T的表示形状。
