GB/T 1844《塑料符号和缩略语》分为四个部分，本部分为GB/T 1844的第3部分。本部分等同采用ISO 1043-3：1996《塑料——符号和缩略语——第3部分：增强剂》（英文版）。
GB/T 1844的本部分提供了与增塑剂有关术语的组成部分的统一符号以形成缩略语。其通常仅包括那些已经具有普遍使用的缩略语。
本部分是为了避免同一增塑剂出现多个缩略语。这些符号最初是要作为方便的速记方法以用于形成在公开出版物或其他书面材料中的化学名称的缩略语。
本部分代替GB/T 1844.3-1995《塑料及树脂缩写代号第三部分：增强剂》，本部分与GB/T 1844.3-1995的主要差异如下：
——增加了国际纯粹与应用化学联合会名称、CAS登记号；
——增加了本部分与1995年版的主要差异。
