1.1 Purpose This Standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the performance, dimensional and functional interchangeability, design, materials, testing, inspection, welding, marking, handling, storing, shipment, purchasing, repair and remanufacture of wellhead and christmas tree equipment for use in the petroleum and natural gas industries. This Standard does not apply to field use, field testing or field repair of wellhead and christmas tree equipment. 1.2 Applicability This Standard is applicable to the following specific equipment. a) Wellhead equipment: 1) casing head housings; 2) casing head spools; 3) tubing head spools; 4) cross-over spools; 5) multi-stage head housings and spools. b) Connectors and fittings: 1) cross-over connectors; 2) tubing head adapters; 3) top connectors; 4) tees and crosses; 5) fluid-sampling devices; 6) adapter and spacer spools. c) Casing and tubing hangers: 1) mandrel hangers; 2) slip hangers. d) Valves and chokes: 1) single valves; 2) multiple valves; 3) actuated valves; 4) valves prepared for actuators; 5) check valves; 6) chokes; 7) surface and underwater safety valves and actuators; 8) back-pressure valves. e) Loose connectors [flanged, threaded, other end connectors (OEC), and welded]: 1) weld neck connectors; 2) blind connectors; 3) threaded connectors; 4) adapter and spacer connectors; 5) bullplugs; 6) valve-removal plugs. f) Other equipment: 1) actuators; 2) hubs; 3) pressure boundary penetrations; 4) ring gaskets; 5) running and testing tools (in Appendix H); 6) wear bushings (in Appendix H). The nomenclature used in this Standard for typical equipment is shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. All parts whose physical dimensions conform to the metric tables incorporated into the body of this Standard.
