GB/T 23638-2009 Lead-acid batteries for motor cycles ENGLISH, PDF Lead-acid batteries for motor cycles 1 Scope This standard specifies the terms, models, structure, product classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as packaging, transportation and storage of lead-acid batteries for motor cycles. This standard is applicable to lead-acid batteries (hereinafter referred to as batteries) used for motorcycle starting, ignition and lighting. 2 Terms, definitions and symbols 2.1 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 2.1.1 cell each cell of a multi-cell monobloc battery 2.1.2 valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery sealed battery with a valve that allows gas to escape if the internal pressure of the battery exceeds a predetermined value Note: No electrolyte can be added in such a battery or battery pack under normal conditions. 2.2 Symbols C10——the 10h rated capacity, Ah. Ca——the 10h actual capacity, Ah. I10——10h discharge current, A, with a value of C10/10. Ica——the current after 10min of charge during charge acceptance test, A. 3 Model designation, structural dimensions and product classification 3.1 Model designation 3.1.1 "The product type is represented by the first capitalized letter 'M' of the Chinese character '摩' (pronounced "Mo"). See Figure 1 for the details of designation. Model meaning: For example: A valve-regulated dry-charged lead-acid starting battery for motor cycles composed of 6 cells in series, with a rated capacity of 7Ah, is designated by 6-MFQA-7-1A. Figure 1 Schematic diagram for model designation 3.1.2 The positions of terminal (polarity) and vent port shall be well identified. 3.1.3 The manufacturer may determine the feature identification according to the actual situation. 3.2 Overall dimensions 3.2.1 See Figure 2 for the overall dimensions of the structure. 3.2.2 The overall dimensions in Table 1 and Table 2 refer to the overall dimensions of the container and cover, excluding the battery filler plug, vent port and terminal protrusion. Batteries with special specifications and models not listed in Table 1 and Table 2 shall be determined by the manufacturer and the user through negotiation. Figure 2 Schematic diagram for structural dimensions 3.3 Product classification Batteries are classified into non-starting batteries and starting batteries according to their functions, and their models and overall dimensions shall meet the requirements of Table 1 and Table 2. (Informative Annex A includes Table A.1 and Table A.2, which provide a comparison between the product classifications in GB/T 23638-2009 and common Japanese battery models) Table 1 Classification of non-valve-regulated batteries
