This document, after being verified, may be referenced to for the determination of other phthalate esters. This document is applicable to the determination of six phthalate esters in furniture products and related materials. 2 Normative references The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 6682 Water for analytical laboratory use - Specification and test methods 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 phthalates general name of esters generated by the reaction of phthalic acid and alcohol, whose chemical structure is characterized by two symmetric or asymmetric alkyl formate esters in the ortho positions of benzene ring Note: See Table 1 for the six phthalates described in this document.   4 Principle Phthalates in specimens are extracted with dichloromethane in Soxhlet extractor or ultrasonic generator, and the extract is determined by GC-MS after diluted to the scale. 5 Reagents or materials Water used shall meet the requirements for Grade 3 water as specified in GB/T 6682. 5.1 Dichloromethane Analytically or chromatographically pure. 5.2 Phthalate standard substance With purity not less than 95%; see Table 1.
