GB/T 4146 consists of the following three parts under the general title Textiles - Man-made Fibers: ——Part 1: Generic Names; ——Part 2: Terms of Products; ——Part 3: Terms of Inspection. This is Part 2 of GB/T 4146. This part is developed in accordance with the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009. This part replaces the contents of 1.3 "general name" in GB/T 4146-1984 Textile - Terms and Terminology (Parts of Chemical Fibers) and has the following main changes with respect to 1.3 of GB/T 4146-1984: ——Clause 1.3 of the former standard is changed to Part 2 of Textiles - Man-made Fibers, the terms are increased from 39 to 93; ——According to the characteristics of man-made fiber products, the terms of man-made fiber products are specified in six categories; ——Three categories of fiber terms, i.e. bio-based fibers, intelligent fibers and recycled fibers, are added; ——Terms of functional and high performance fibers are supplemented, and the relevant terms of textured yarn are deleted. This part was proposed by China National Textile and Apparel Council. This part is under the jurisdiction of the Subcommittee on Basic Standards of the National Technical Committee on Textiles of the Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 209). The previous edition of this standard is as follows: ——GB/T 4146-1984. Textiles - Man-made Fibers - Part 2: Terms of Products 1 Scope This part of GB/T 4146 defines the terms and definitions of various man-made fiber products used for textiles or other applications. This part is applicable to man-made fibers in fields such as production, application, business, scientific research and education. 2 Product Classification 2.1 man-made fibers; chemical fibers fibers made by human beings, excluding natural fiber Note: Man-made fibers are divided into regenerated fibers, synthetic fibers and inorganic fibers. 2.2 regenerated fibers man-made fibers with natural products (cellulose, protein, etc.) as raw materials and made by spinning 2.3 synthetic fibers man-made fibers made of polymers which are synthesized by chemical materials such as organic single units 2.4 inorganic fibers fibers with minerals and the like as raw materials 2.5 regenerated cellulose fibers regenerated fibers with natural cellulose as raw material and made by spinning 2.6 regenerated protein fibers regenerated fibers with native protein as raw material and made by spinning 2.7 bio-based fibers fibers with biomass as raw material or made of polymer containing biomass source monomers 2.8 recycled fibers fibers which are made of waste polymer materials and waste textile materials Note: There are chemical method and physical method according to the production process. 2.9 functional fibers fibers with functions, given in the production process, exceeding the functions of conventional fiber 2.10 high performance fibers fibers with outstanding physical, mechanical and thermal performances or with some special performances 2.11 intelligent fibers fibers which are capable of perceiving the environmental changes or stimulations and giving respond to the changes or stimulations 3 General 3.1 filament single or multiple yarn strip(s) in long continuous length. Generally, the length is expressed in km 3.2 staple fibers short man-made fibers 3.3 industry filament man-made fiber filament which has higher physical and mechanical performances and is used in industry filed 3.4 monofilament continuous filament of a fiber 3.5 modified fibers fibers obtained by improving certain performances of conventional man-made fibers by chemical or physical method 3.6 pre-oriented yarn; partially oriented yarn; POY partially oriented chemical fiber filament made by spinning at high speed 3.7 high oriented yarn; HOY crystal high oriented chemical fiber filament made by spinning at super speed 3.8 full drawn yarn; FDY fully crystallized and oriented fiber filament made by one step process of spinning and stretching 3.9 textured fibers fibers presenting bulkiness and flexibility with (or potentially with) the appearance features of crimp, spiral, loop etc. 3.10 draw textured yarn; DTY textured fibers also referred to as drawn textured yarns, with whole or part stretching stage of chemical fiber filament carried out on the same machine platform with the deformation process.
