本标准规定了能用丙酮在其沸点附近从颗粒的酚醛模塑料中，测定抽提物数量的重量法。本标准等效于ISO 308-1981《塑料-酚醛模塑料-丙酮可溶物（未模塑态材料的表观树脂含量）的测定》。本方法仅适用于以线型酚醛树脂为基材的模塑料，而不适用于以甲阶酚醛树脂为基材的模塑料，因为后一类的树脂不能完全溶于丙酮。本标准中，丙酮可溶物的数量为表观树脂含量，虽然抽提物主要是由酚醛树脂和六次甲基四胺组成，但通常还有其他丙酮可溶物组分（如润滑剂、着色剂或来自填料中的天然树脂），都计算为树脂。
