This standard specifies the testing method of boiling water shrinkage and heated dry air shrinkage for man-made filament yarn like polyester (polyester fiber), polyamide (chinlon), polypropylene (polypropylene fiber) and cellulose fiber: skein method and single method. Manual measurement method and instrument measurement method are provided in skein method and where there is a disagreement, manual measurement method is adopted and if this method is not applicable, the appropriate testing method shall be determined through the consultation among relevant parties. This standard is applicable to the man-made filament yarn with linear density less than 3000dtex. This standard is not applicable to pre-oriented yarn.
