Footwear - Vocabulary 1 Scope This standard specifies the terms and definitions for footwear components, names, base, materials, testing, techniques, equipment and last used in construction. This standard is applicable to footwear made by two or more types of techniques such as sewing, adhesion, mould pressing, vulcanization, injection molding, upper insertion and sprue, with upper made of various natural leathers, man-made leathers, synthetic leathers and textiles as well as two or more types of materials. 2 Terms and Definitions 2.1 Components 2.1.1 D-ring metal or plastic piece often used for footwear, enabling a lace (2.1.56) to slide but it's different from an eyelet (2.1.67) or a lace hook (2.1.54) See Figure 1.
