1 Scope
This document specifies the general rules for packaging, labelling, transport and storage of coating material and pigment products.
This document is applicable to the packaging, labelling, transport and storage of coating material and pigment products.

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 4122.1 and the following apply.
3.1
inner package
internal package that mainly plays the role of protecting products and facilitating use during product circulation
3.2
inner receptacle
container that requires an outer package to function as a sealing
3.3
outer package
external package that protects products and facilitates transportation during product circulation
3.4
net quantity
quantity of commodity of quantitative package after removing the packaging container and other packaging materials
Note: Neither the weight of packaging materials of the commodity nor the weight of any other materials packaged with such commodity shall be included in net quantity.

marking at on certain position of the package with simple and eye-catching patterns and words according to the prescribed standards during product storage and transport, in order to facilitate proper storage and handling
3.6
dangerous goods
substances and articles with dangerous characteristics such as explosion, combustion, combustibility, toxicity, infection, corrosion, radioactivity and environmental danger, which are listed in GB 12268-2025, Table 1 Dangerous goods list
Note: They are also known as dangerous articles.

4 Packaging
4.1 Packaging environment and protection measures
4.1.1 The place where coating material and pigment are packaged shall be smooth and clean, and meet the relevant requirements of products for temperature and relative humidity.
4.1.2 Corresponding safety protection measures and personal protection measures shall be taken, such as providing gas masks, safety goggles, masks and fire fighting equipment.
4.2 Coating material and pigment products
Coating material and pigment products shall be checked before packaging, and shall conform to the relevant provisions of the corresponding product.
4.3 Packaging materials
4.3.1 The packaging materials of coating material and pigment products shall ensure that the contents are free from damage during normal storage and transport, and meet the requirements of the corresponding requirements and the standards of the corresponding packaging material.
4.3.2 The packaging (single-layer packaging or inner packaging) materials in direct contact with coating material and pigment products shall be durable, shall not damage the products due to physical and chemical interaction with the contents, and shall not swell, leak or affect the product quality. Packaging (single-layer packaging or inner packaging) materials that can be used include: metal, plastic, composite and paper materials, etc.
4.3.3 The outer packaging materials of coating material and pigment products shall be firm and durable to ensure that the contents are not damaged. Packaging materials that can be used include: wood, metal, plastic, composite material, paper material, textile material, etc.
4.4 Package requirements
4.4.1 The coating material and pigment products shall be packaged according to their physical and chemical properties, and the whole package shall be sealed.
4.4.2 The coating material and pigment products considered as dangerous goods shall be classified into dangerous category according to GB 6944, and the packaging of products shall conform to the relevant provisions of GB 12463, GB 18191, GB 19160, GB/T 19161 and packaging of other dangerous goods.
4.4.3 The packaging of coating material and pigment products that are not considered as dangerous goods shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 9174, GB/T 4456 and GB/T 19161, and other suitable packaging may also be used.
