1 Scope This standard specifies the rules, test methods and qualified indexes of welding procedure qualification for butt weld and fillet weld, anticorrosive overlaying process qualification, welding procedure qualification for composite metallic materials, welding procedure qualification and supplementary welding procedure qualification for heat exchange tube and tube plate, and stud arc welding procedure qualification, for pressure equipment (boiler, pressure vessel and pressure piping). This standard is applicable to welding techniques such as oxyfuel gas welding, shielded metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, gas tungstun arc welding, gas metal arc welding, electroslag welding, plasma arc welding, friction welding, electrogas welding and stud arc welding. In this Standard, the welding procedure qualification refers to the process to carry out verifying test and result assessment for preliminary welding procedure specification, in order to make the mechanical property and bending property of welded joints or the chemical compositions of overlaying meet the requirements. 3.2 Preliminary welding procedure specification (pWPS) Document of welding procedure proposed for welding procedure qualification. 3.3 Procedure qualification report (PQR) Report recording verifying test and inspection result and assessing proposed pWPS. 3.4 Welding procedure specification (WPS) Document of welding procedure prepared according to qualified PQR and for product welding. 3.5 Welding working instruction (WWI) Detailed working document for processing and operation concerning weldment manufacturing. The operation instructions applied by welder in welding, which can guarantee the reproducibility of welding quality. 3.6 Supplementary welding procedure qualification Assessment of verifying test and result carried out for proposed welding procedure specification in order to make the supplementary characteristics of the welded joint (e.g. fillet weld thickness of heat exchange tube and tube plate) meet the requirement. 3.7 Weldment Pressure equipment or its parts that are connected by welding or of overlaying. The weldment is composed of two parts--base metal and welded joint (or overlay).

In this Standard, the welding procedure qualification refers to the process to carry out verifying test and result assessment for preliminary welding procedure specification, in order to make the mechanical property and bending property of welded joints or the chemical compositions of overlaying meet the requirements. 3.2 Preliminary welding procedure specification (pWPS) Document of welding procedure proposed for welding procedure qualification. 3.3 Procedure qualification report (PQR) Report recording verifying test and inspection result and assessing proposed pWPS. 3.4 Welding procedure specification (WPS) Document of welding procedure prepared according to qualified PQR and for product welding. 3.5 Welding working instruction (WWI) Detailed working document for processing and operation concerning weldment manufacturing. The operation instructions applied by welder in welding, which can guarantee the reproducibility of welding quality. 3.6 Supplementary welding procedure qualification Assessment of verifying test and result carried out for proposed welding procedure specification in order to make the supplementary characteristics of the welded joint (e.g. fillet weld thickness of heat exchange tube and tube plate) meet the requirement. 3.7 Weldment Pressure equipment or its parts that are connected by welding or of overlaying. The weldment is composed of two parts--base metal and welded joint (or overlay).
